James is a highly experienced and trusted advisor who helps clients navigate an increasingly complicated media landscape – particularly in times of crisis. He founded Woburn Partners in April 2018 to work with companies, individuals and organisations who understand the importance of reputation management.
James advises CEOs, NGOs, charities and high-profile individuals on media strategy, crisis management and internal communications. He was director of communications for Tom Watson, deputy leader of the UK Labour Party, from 2015 to March 2018, during one of the most turbulent times in British politics.
Before that he had a 20-year career on Fleet Street, working as a business journalist on four national newspapers and as media editor at the Observer and the Guardian for ten years.
